How we approach cosmetic dentistry

Done properly, and made to look like you

The conversation comes first

We take the time to understand what you want from your smile before recommending anything. The same shade of veneer does not suit every face, and the most natural results come from looking at the whole picture: your bite, your gum line, the proportion of your front teeth, and the way you actually smile. Cosmetic work that ignores any of those stands out for the wrong reasons.

Why cosmetic work sits at the end of the plan

If your teeth are crooked, the right answer is often to straighten them first with Invisalign, so that less restorative work is needed afterwards. If your teeth are healthy but stained, whitening alone may be enough. If you are unhappy with shape and proportion after that, that is the moment to consider bonding or veneers.

Quick fixes might look good for a while, but they often lead to bigger problems later. Our focus is strong foundations, healthy gums, stable teeth and dentistry that is designed to last.

More than one opinion

Your care benefits from expertise that goes beyond the dental degree. Where appropriate, we work together to plan and deliver your care, combining our knowledge to give you a considered, personalised approach built around your needs.

So I actually saw an adverb for Clear Dentistry on Facebook and decided to sort of venture out and find it myself. Really, really appreciated all the advice I was given, came in for a root canal that I'd had done previously that I wasn't happy because the tooth was really discoloured. And Chris actually talked me through veneers which I hadn't thought of as an option before and also some discoloration on my two front teeth which I really wasn't happy with. They weren't being affected by the teeth whitening that I was having done either. It's definitely the right practice to come to if you want some kind of cosmetic treatments done. I've had other treatments here but definitely the precision and the accuracy for my veneers was perfect. I was quite worried because I thought a lot of my teeth underneath the veneers would be damaged but the precision of it is less than half a millimetre of my actual tooth was removed so that made a massive difference to me. I'm so much more confident. I used to actually use an app to whiten my teeth because I was so affected by it so it's just made it so easy. I'm not afraid to smile in photos anymore with my mouth open because I'm just so happy with the results.

I came to Clear Dentistry with an absence actually and from that point on Chris has sorted out my teeth in various different ways and it has made a massive difference to how confident I feel. I've noticed I even smiled differently. I've had four custom-made veneers on my top teeth and four composite teeth built up on the bottom jaw as well. When I had my custom veneers they came back from the lab and we were trying them on for size and I said oh I'd quite like it if you could position them so that they're all in a neat row and they all sort of literally they're flush with each other but Chris said well you know we could do that. Here's why I wouldn't recommend that because it will immediately look like when you walk into a room people would think wow teeth and instead he just sort of moved them a little bit more naturally so they weren't completely flush with each other and yeah he was right immediately I looked in the camera in the mirror and yes I could see what he was talking about. I would probably have also gone a bit whiter which I shouldn't have done and I think one of the great things that I remember Chris saying to me was 45 year old guys don't have teeth that white Justin and I was thought yeah you're right and he was of course spot on.

Common questions

Where should I start?

With a consultation and a conversation about what you like and do not like about your smile. From there we map out a plan, whether that is whitening alone, a single veneer or a full smile makeover. We start with the least invasive option that gets the result.

Will it look natural?

That is the aim. The best cosmetic work is the kind other people cannot quite put their finger on. We design for your face rather than a template, and we will show you the plan before anything irreversible is done.

Should I straighten my teeth before cosmetic work?

Often, yes. If your teeth are crooked, straightening them first with Invisalign usually means far less veneer or bonding is needed afterwards, and the long-term result is better. Cosmetic work sits at the end of the plan, not the beginning.

How much does cosmetic treatment cost?

Whitening is £399.95 and veneers start from £789.95 per tooth. Bonding and smile makeovers are priced after assessment, because they depend on how many teeth are involved. You will always have a personalised written quote before any treatment begins.
