General dentistry

Your check-up, just better

It all starts here. A check-up at Clear is not a box-ticking exercise: it is where we work out where you are, where you want to be, and how we get you there together. You will see your own mouth on screen, and leave knowing what, if anything, needs attention and why.

About your check-up

Your check-up, just better

Built around understanding

Most people come in expecting a quick look. What they get is a real conversation about their mouth, their health and their options. No jargon, no judgement. We want you to leave knowing the current state of your oral health, what if anything needs attention, and why, because patients who understand what is happening make better long-term decisions.

How often should you come in?

That depends on you. For most healthy mouths, every six months works well, but your dentist will recommend a frequency based on your individual needs, not a one-size-fits-all schedule. Some patients come every three months, others every twelve. We will always be transparent about our reasoning and never ask you to come in more than you need to.

New to Clear?

Whether you have not seen a dentist in a while, have had a difficult experience elsewhere, or simply want a practice that listens, you are in good hands. Your first check-up takes a little longer: digital X-rays, a thorough assessment, and a proper conversation about what you want from your care. There is no pressure and no surprises, just an honest assessment and a clear plan.

What actually happens

The full picture, not just holes

Every part of the picture matters, and we look at all of it at every visit.

  1. 01 · Teeth

    Decay, caught early

We check every tooth for decay, and the condition of existing fillings, crowns and bridges.

  2. 02 · Gums

    The foundation

A gum health assessment, because healthy gums are what everything else sits on.

  3. 03 · Screen

    Oral cancer, every visit

    A soft-tissue screen at every single check-up. Non-negotiable.

  4. 04 · Bite

    Wear and grinding

How your bite comes together, and any signs of wear or grinding, so problems are managed before they grow.

What I like about clear dentistry is the overall experience. It's not only the treatment that you're getting, it is the approach to the treatment you're going to have and how it's done. It makes you feel very comfortable. If there is a problem, then there is going to be a way to overcome it. Being quite frank about it, I had neglected my dental health. I had a chip tooth. I've had several fillings, dentistry is part of treatment from checkups. The experience of being able to see the inside of your mouth very clearly is for me quite important. And of course at the end of the course of treatment, you can see the end result.

“The experience of being able to see the inside of your mouth very clearly is, for me, quite important.”

Kenneth admits he had neglected his dental health. He describes how seeing inside his own mouth, and the approach to treatment, made the difference.

Common questions

What actually happens at a check-up? Is it just a quick look?

Far more than a quick glance. We check for decay, assess gum health, screen for oral cancer, look at wear patterns and review any existing restorations, using intraoral cameras and digital X-rays so you can see exactly what we see. It is a full picture of your oral health.

How often do I need to come if my teeth feel fine?

For most healthy mouths, every six months works well, but your dentist will recommend a frequency based on your individual needs. Some patients come every three months, others every twelve. We will explain our reasoning and never encourage you to come more than you actually need to.

What happens at my first appointment as a new patient?

It takes a little longer than a routine check-up. We take digital X-rays, carry out a thorough oral health assessment, and have a proper conversation about what you want from your dental care. No pressure, no sales pitch: an honest assessment and a clear plan. The new patient assessment is £99.95.

Is a check-up the same as a hygiene appointment?

No. A check-up diagnoses the overall state of your oral health; a hygiene appointment treats and maintains it, with a gum assessment, professional cleaning and tailored home-care advice. Most patients have both.
